Vai & Vem Sideboard
"Vai&Vem" is a sideboard woven in carnaúba straw and wood. It is the result of a social design project in partnership with artisans. The project aimed to challenge the artisans to find a new way to use the traditional technique of weaving straw based on irregular field fences. From round to linear, the process of making undulations upwards and downwards named this new crafting process "VAI&VEM," giving a variety of other products for its making. This piece was developed to enhance this technique and material in new contemporary products. It was exhibited at DESIGN HOUSE during São Paulo Design Week and is now part of a permanent exhibition at CRAB (Centro Brasileiro de Artesanato) located in Rio de Janeiro.
