MADE IN BRAZIL BY INDEPENDENT DESIGNERS

Mary Yamakawa graduated in Architecture and Urban Planning and went through the business world before finding in ceramics a fascination, drawing parallels between the processes with clay and the two ways of understanding the world.
For Mary, hand-molding reminds us of life: imperfect, full of holes, ups and downs.

In her studio, in the city of FlorianĆ³polis, Mary creates pieces in black clay (rich in titanium) - cups and objects, vases that captivate by the size of their handles; creations in terracota tones and other pieces from her "perfect imperfect" universe. "The study of shapes sometimes goes through the drawing, the imaginary, and also the instinctive. Sometimes the plan goes wrong, but it ends up working out."
