Tribo Lamp

"Tribo" was born from references to local ancestors that reflect the craftsmanship of Ceará in the Northeast of Brazil. The women who perform the work inherit the indigenous tradition of manually weaving carnauba straw. This tradition is passed down from generation to generation and is at risk of diminishing today due to the lack of interest from the younger generation. The raw material for the product comes from the carnauba palm tree, typical of the region's life. It is from there that the women derive their livelihood. The project is inspired by the form and valorization of the woman's body, in designs and indigenous geometries that are already present in the design of crafts with indigenous roots in the culture of these people. The project aims for a creative perception of the form and this craft at new scales and the valorization of local craftsmanship.
