Jataí Table
Jataí, from the Tupi Yata'i, is a species of meliponine bee widely found in Brazil. It builds its nests horizontally, forming characteristic wax tubes at their entrances that resemble jars. Its honey contains higher moisture, making it less viscous.
Continuing the research on meliponiculture, PROSA combined cataloged forms of honey with the nest entrances of the Jataí bee to create its second dining table in the collection.
Composed of two separate bases made possible by strip planking, a canoe construction technique that uses slats with male/female half-circle joints, allowing them to curve while connecting and resulting in a smooth, homogeneous, and resistant surface.
