Jataí Dining Table
Jataí, from the Tupi Yata'i, is a species of meliponine bee widely found in Brazil, which builds horizontal nests with wax tubes at the entrances, resembling jars, and produces honey that is less viscous due to higher moisture content. Inspired by these characteristics, PROSA created its second dining table, made of muiracatiara, combining the forms of honey with the nest entrances of the Jataí bee. The table is composed of two separate bases, made using the strip planking technique, commonly used in canoe construction, with slats featuring semicircular joints that curve and connect, resulting in a smooth, homogeneous, and durable surface.
